In honor of President Carter's lifetime of work for peace and a safe environment, the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University will be featured in a special Rotary Mega-Meeting and FutureWAVE podcast on Wed January 15th.
“As raging wildfires, environmental devastation and wars threaten humanity, the Carter school is engaging a new generation in developing the tools needed to build a safe and secure future” said Arthur Kanegis, Podcast Host and Rotarian film director.
“So, we are thrilled to have Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick join Dean Alpaslan Özerdem and Charles E. Davidson, PhD, in honoring one of the greatest environmental presidents and Nobel Prize-winning peacebuilders, Jimmy Carter."

“President Carter spent his entire life fighting for peace and human rights,” said Rotary International President Urchick, “with his passing, we recognize and mourn the loss of a great peace-builder. In a polarized world, I’m reminded of his inspiring words: “The bond of our common humanity is stronger than the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices.”
“The Carters were trailblazers in peacebuilding and justice,” said Dr. Özerdem, Dean of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution. “We are furthering the Carter legacy in conflict resolution through our research and practice. His insight, passion, and love for peace will remain our inspiration in educating future peacemakers.”
“For decades, the Carters tirelessly walked in the shoes of the people they strived to empower, transforming countless lives in the process,” added Dr. Davidson, who heads the Rotary-Carter School Collaboration for Peace and directs the school’s Center for Peace Technology.
“By launching the Center for Peace Technology we can forge a future where conflicts are prevented before they escalate, where peace is cultivated through innovation, and where th86 18838274765e dividends of progress are shared by all,” Dean Özerdem concluded.
